My First Week at Bootcamp
A New Chapter in My Tech Journey

I am a Full-stack Developer, with four (4) years of experience, passionate about building beautiful, functional and user-friendly websites.
This week marked the start of an exciting new adventure as I kicked off my bootcamp experience with Blueapril Technologies Limited, a company I’m thrilled to be learning under. As a self-taught developer, I’ve spent countless hours playing with code, building projects, and navigating the wild world of online tutorials. But this week showed me just how transformative a structured program with dedicated mentors can be, and I’m already buzzing with anticipation for what’s next.
Why Bootcamp? The Value of Structure and Guidance
Even with my self-taught skillset, I knew an internship or bootcamp would be a game-changer. Learning on my own has been rewarding, but it often felt like wandering through a jungle without a map. I craved structure—a clear path to follow—and the chance to work with mentors who could provide direction, correct my missteps, and push me toward best practices. Blueapril’s internship promised exactly that: a guided journey to refine my skills and elevate my craft with a 4 weeks bootcamp and 6 months internship. Plus, having experienced mentors to bounce ideas off and learn from is something no YouTube or Sololearn tutorial can replicate.
Week One: Diving In (With a Slight Hiccup)
My first week got off to a rocky start—I missed the initial meeting because, embarrassingly, I didn’t spot the email in my inbox. Lesson learned: always turn on notifications! Thankfully, I quickly caught up by joining the program’s Discord server, where I was already assigned to a team, which instantly gave me a sense of belonging and purpose.
The second meeting was a whirlwind of insights. We had a recap of the operations we’ll be tackling as interns, which gave me a clearer picture of the real-world impact our work will have. We also discussed the process of legally binding our contracts, a step that’s not just a formality or a trap but a win-win for both the company and us interns. It ensures we’re protected while giving Blueapril Technologies Ltd. the commitment they need to invest in our growth. What stood out most was the emphasis on asking questions—no matter how small—and the mentors’ genuine enthusiasm. They’re not just knowledgeable; they’re approachable, engaging, and clearly passionate about helping us succeed.
Looking Ahead: Ready for the Ride
This first week has been a whirlwind of learning, connection, and a few humbling moments (like that missed email). I’m already seeing the value of structure and mentorship, and I’m beyond excited for what’s to come. With Blueapril’s guidance, I’m ready to dive deeper, tackle challenges, and gain the exposure I need to grow not just as a developer but as an engineer or technologist. Here’s to an exciting journey and the countless lessons waiting just around the corner!
